Just put on a -temporary- link to a presentation I made for Uni of my modeling project. set Project modeling 6MB PDF Also learning Houdini and writing mel scripts that create curves from particle positions.
Thursday November 04 2005
It's been a long time since I updated my site. In September I started the BA in Computer Visualization and Animation at Bournemouth University.
I've been studying maths, C programming, mel scripting, shell scripting and I'm working on some projects in Maya. I enjoy the university life a lot and look forward to creating interesting tools and visual effects.
It's a busy life and I'm working hard to develop my own ideas and tools. Hopefully I will be able to create a new section on my site with some mel scripts.
Thursday August 26 2005
I've continued to work on my rain particle system. I am able to create wet maps now.
Thursday August 18 2005
Playing with Maya and Z-brush, such a powerful combination. I'm working on some graphics for Fan Made Fallout, talking heads, splash screens, items and maybe cinematics. The past week I also figured out how to generate wet maps for my rain-particle system.
Friday August 12 2005
Just one month away, then I will be starting the 'Computer Animation and Visualization' course at Bournemouth University in the UK. I'm really looking forward to it. Houdini, Maya, Shake, C++,... :) I'm gonna have fun.
Sunday July 24 2005
I've been making some video tutorials for Maya, some of them should get online sometime during the next months or so. I also became a teammember of "FanMadeFallout", a game-project based upon the post-nuclear "fallout-universe". I'll be creating graphics for them.
Sunday June 19 2005
I've put some more of my traditional work online and added a few clean overview shots for some of the projects.
Monday June 13 2005
I've continued to work on the rain particles, pretty sweet system. Expressions are becoming big. I might write a tutorial about it.
Monday June 06 2005
I've put my demoreel online. I've been working a rain particle system in Maya based purely on expressions and nodes.
Saturday May 28 2005
I've finished an animation for a Dutch contest called 'Multi-mania freestyle animation'. It's my character doing a lip-synch. I've also completed my demo reel and I'll put it online soon.
Saturday May 7 2005
I've finished another project that involved the creation of waterdrops on a window, tracking and compositing. I've also finished a team-programming project (with 2 other guys) in Java: the creation of a 2d role playing game. An exercise in Object Oriented programming.
Monday May 2 2005
Big news!!! I've passed my entrance exams at Bournemouth and I'm now officially accepted. So I'll be studying CGI in the Uk for the next four years at one of Europe's best Universities.
I also finished the lava shot and I'm currently working on another project that involves integrating special waterdrops with live-action.
Sunday April 2 2005
I put my compositing showreel online. I'm planning on doing a 3d showreel too. Probably this summer. I'm currently working on a shot with a balloon, some blue-key and lava :)
Wednesday March 30 2005
I switched my site to a different domain, my name: www.peterclaes.be, sparcle is gone.
Sunday March 27 2005
I made a little assembling effect with a particle simulation. Also some compositing to give it a bit of a glow on the edge.
Saturday March 26 2005
I did most of the facial blend shapes for my roman guy. I'm really looking forward to animate his face :). It can handle some really extreme poses. I'm also running some extreme particle simulations at night... just to see how far I can go :)
Wednesday March 16 2005
Continuing work on my roman guy, mostly practising texturing skills. Started facial poses as well. Finished my compositing reel for 2004. I will put it online as soon as I get more webspace.
Monday feb 28 2005
I'm updating some of the material I made in 2003 and a bit more 2d work. Also worked on an Vfx shot for a student film by Jeff Otte. I also became a promotor for a last year multimedia student who is researching Bullet-time, basically I'm helping him out with compositing issues.
Thursday feb 24 2005
I'm working on a character, a roman emperor. I want to make an animation of him speaking to 'the people of Rome'. It'll be a good exercise for lip-sync.
Sunday jan 23 2005
Just posted some pictures of a little personal project for some more environmental tests. It's a little tower and I want to make the seasons change.
Monday jan 10 2005
Just posted an update on the river flow
Friday dec 24 2004
Major update, it's been too long. Language change to English. I've been busy to say the least. I'm hoping to update my site more frequently from now on.
I've been working on a couple of projects the past couple of months.
The first one involved compositing, no 3d. This was a project for a student film by Jonas Baekeland. Mostly bluekey,
rotoscoping and colorcorrecting.I did the compositing, Jelmen Palstermans did the editing together with Jonas.
The second project involved creating a model of an old man for a commercial for the demining departement of the army. I worked together with David Heijl and Tom Dietvorst on this project.
I was responsable for modeling, Uv Layout, rigging, skinning and animation. Tom did texturing, David did particles and compositing. If I'm to use this on my demo reel I will redo this project from animation to finished shot myself.
I'm working on a few personal projects as well, one involves liquid simulation and fur/grass for an environment. The other one is another environment with animated season change.
There's one big project I'm working on which will last for a couple of months.
